Daily Stats
Today was the shortest ride yet, a mere 48 miles. We left just after 7am this morning to make good work of the cool weather. The cool weather lasted a very brief time and out came the heat and humidity. The ride was full of water stops and hunting down water facets and hoses to cool down with. Luckily we arrived in Coralville close to 11am before the brunt of the heat arrived. Soaked in sweat and burnt to a crisp, we headed for the "Coralville Aquatic Center" to cool off.
Tonight we are enjoying the hospitality of Jeff and Marilyn Thompson in Iowa City and are looking forward to sleeping in air conditioning and having warm showers. To say the least, we are roughing it....
Tomorrow morning we will finish RAGBRAI with the 50 to 60 miles to Muscatine and will wrap up by dipping our tires in the Mississippi River.....hopefully not involving a gravel road.

The festivities in Marengo included three hot-air balloons which launched very near our campsite
