Daily Stats
Day 1 of RAGBRAI was a day of challenging hills. We left Sergeant Bluffs at about 8 am, which was later than a lot of people, because we woke up to many people already packing up their tents. However, we made up a lot of time by riding fast and passing a lot of people who stopped to eat at every food vendor along the road. Jordan and Darren both each experienced sore knees towards the end of the ride, and are hoping a good rest should take care of any issues before tomorrow. Darren achieved a new record top speed of 45.2 mph going down one of the larger hills of the day. Mark crossed the 1000 mile threshold for miles ridden this season, early on in our day. We arrived in Ida Grove, tonight’s overnight town, at about 12:30. Sweating heavily, we heartily “refueled” back at the camper before several in the group headed out to go swimming in the crowded pool. The campsite was pretty nice on top of a hill, with a nice breeze. Team Crazy Delicious is currently all accounted for and in high spirits, looking forward to the ride tomorrow.
