Day 0 - Sergeant Bluff

written by: Hassel-half

Meet the Team.

From left to right: Bruce, Jordan, Mark, Mark S, Darren.

Bruce "Baby Butt" Vance.
Baby Butt Bruce has moderate RAGBRAI experience and is a friend of Mark "Sherpa" Stephenson.

Jordan "The Dude" Cook. The Dude abides. This is The Dude's first RAGBRAI, but should have no problem as he is definitely the most fit of those riding this year. The Dude brings a coyboy hat and the riding pace to the team. His thoughts of RAGBRAI so far is, "It's better to remain silenct and thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Mark "Hassel-half". Hassel-half is the shortest although most handsome member of Team Crazy Delicious....and also happens to be typing the blog today... This is Hassel-half's first RAGBRAI and brings tech. support to the team. His initial opinion of RAGBRAI is, "Awesome, RAGBRAI has free wireless!."

Mark "Sherpa" Stephenson. Sherpa is the official driver, guide, and support team for the 2006 Crazy Delicious Team. Sherpa brings years of RAGBRAI experience to the team and is a valueable piece of our team.

Darren "Papa Delicious" Johnson. "Papa Delicious" is team leader and cook for the team. Papa D., as we like to call him, brings humor and encouragement to the team. This is also his first RAGBRAI, but plans on defeating whatever RAGBRAI can deal out.

Quote of the Day: "We're going faster than the internet!" (In reference to the speed of our driving)

After arriving in Sergeant Bluff we hopped on our bikes and followed the official RAGBRAI signs to ritualistically dip our tires in the Missouri River. We originally thought that the 'G' in RAGBRAI stood for "Great", but after the "first" day we think it may stand for "Gravel" (Register's Annual Gravel Bike Ride Across Iowa). The signs pointed us down a three mile stretch of gravel to the river. We weren't too impressed and even had to stop and walk our bikes a few times as the gravel was basically sand. That aside it's been great so far and we're looking foward to the 50-60 miles we ride tomorrow to Ida Grove.
