Welcome to Team Avalanche!
Team Avalanche is a RAGBRAI team made up of Darren, Jordan, and Mark. We created Team Avalanche in 2007 after the van we were riding in was swept off a Colorado mountain by a large snow avalanche.
RAGBRAI is a week long annual bike ride across Iowa. Team Avalanche took part last year under a differnt name, but plans to redefine what RAGBRAI is this year.
Team Avalanche's things to do to prepar for RAGBRAI:
- Do plenty of riding
- Get your seat in shape for the seat
- Do what Mark does
- Never race Jordan
- Prepare your gut for Darren's fabulous cooking
Meet the 2008 RAGBRAI Team
This year Team Avalanche is sans Sherpa. Meaning we will be released out into the wild without our wise and experienced guide. The previous two years training will be put to the test as we embark on this greatest of journeys alone. Although, Sherpa is unable to guide us this year as he plans to ride with his barage of sons, he will be with us in spirit. This also means that Team Avalanche will be sans camper forcing us to "rough-it" in tents.
Team Avalanche will also be sans Bruce. How we will survive without our nightly discussions with Bruce and his wild adventures of the previous ride, we do not know. We will heartily miss him and hope that he is doing well.
The 2008 Team Avalanche roster is made up of Darren "Papa Delicious" Johnson, Jordan "The Dude" Cook, and Mark "Hassel-half" Bland. Meet the team members below.
Darren "Papa Delicious"
Papa Delicious is the Avalanche Team leader and also the team cook. Last year Papa D.'s cooking kept the team well nourished and energized after each day's ride. He has quite a bit to live up to this year, but we're sure he can manage.
Jordan "The Dude"
The Dude is yet again the most phyiscally fit member of Team Avalanche and will definitely be setting the pace and challenging the rest of us to keep up.
Mark "Hassel-half"
Hassel-half will bring technical support and his towering height to this year's team. He will however only be able to ride the first three days this year.
When is RAGBRAI this year?
RAGBRAI begins on July 20 and ends on July 26. We will begin in Missouri Valley, Iowa and end in Le Claire, Iowa. For more information on the route and dates check out http://www.ragbrai.org/.
